Robert W. Johnson is a survivor of traumatic brain injury. Years ago, after a life-altering event, he became inspired to paint. Robert’s acrylics evoke primal forces at work in his mind. His pieces are manifestations of the struggle to remember his life before the accident. Johnson is an emerging artist in the truest sense, and has created his own vocabulary of abstractions based on his personal history. He is that rare individual who, not only is aware of what he lost and how it has changed him, but also can transform this awareness into powerful creative expression. His artistic process is integral to his recovery process. Johnson is a Connecticut-based artist. He is a member of the Valley Arts Council and has exhibited throughout the state.
Rob's family is deeply committed to raising awarness about brain injury and are known as strong advocates in the State of CT for survivors and families. Rob's mother, Kathy Johnson, is a Board Member of CT Brain Injury Support Network (CTBISN). Kathy has been working directly with state legislators to raise awarenss about brain injury and the issues survivors and families face. CTBISN is a 501c non-profit organization providing individual and legislative advocacy, education, resources and support to brain injury survivors, families and loved ones throughout CT. Services and memberships are always free, CTBISN is THE voice for brain injury survivors and the need has never been greater!
